The original Vienna Circle brought together philosophers, mathematicians, and scientists in the 1920s and 30s to rigorously examine knowledge itself. We borrow their name and their spirit: the belief that real breakthroughs happen when curious people from different fields sit down together.
Vienna is home to a remarkable concentration of research institutions - Universität Wien, Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien, Complexity Science Hub, Central European University, Technische Universität Wien, and many others - each full of researchers studying human behavior from radically different angles.
Yet these communities often operate in parallel.
The Vienna Behavioral Circle exists to change that. We bring together scientists studying human behavior - psychologists, economists, neuroscientists, sociologists, computer scientists, philosophers - for an evening of talks, informal networking, and genuine curiosity about each other's work.
6–8 flash talks from Vienna-based researchers, spanning psychology, economics, neuroscience, sociology, philosophy, and beyond.
Open Q&A and conversation after each talk.
Relaxed drinks and finger food after the talks.
A few researchers who wanted this to exist.
We're always looking for researchers based in Vienna who want to share their work with an interdisciplinary audience. Talks are informal and followed by open discussion.
